Thanks guys... In noticed it said "no facilities" on shell island. They dont' even have a picnic shelter or a bathroom?

where does the shuttle boat drop you off there? on some dock facility or do they just nose up to the beach?

The just nose up to the beach on the off-channel side of the jetty.

the K

so with no bathroom facilities, if you "gotta whiz" (or other) you just go find a secluded spot up in the dunes, and hope you don't step in where the last person "visited" ?

Wellllllllllllllll - Mother nature gave you a hundred thousand gadgillion gallon bathroom at your disposal....

where do you dive out at shell island??

Laserdoc,

the area known as the "St Andres Jetties" can be seen in the below URL map. Look for the jetty walls on both sides of the pass/inlet.

Though St Andreews State Park is actually on both sides of the inlet, Shell Island (part of the park) can only be reached by boat and is the area on the South-East side of the inlet. The main park is on the North-West side of the inlet.

The jetties that most people dive on are on the NW side where you can drive up to a parking area and then walk down to the jetty walls. This "side" is what people are most likely referring to when you hear St Andrews Jetties.

On the opposite side across the channel are the "shell island" Jetties.

Is one better than the other? Is Shell island worth the carrying of tanks and everthing else?
Thanks
