Leave the egg bearing females and make sure they are like 5" long or something? Can't remember, we figured it out one year... No laws against harvesting on SCUBA though.

I DO recommend doubling up the gloves.

If you like crab, we could get you enough for a good feed in about 15 minutes. They literally were everywhere you put your hand.

I LOVE blue crab :)

In 2006, we had a pretty good "CrabGrab" in Gulf Shores/Orange Beach. I didn't make it last year, but I hear it was pretty much a bust as the crab were scarse and dive conditions weren't all that great anyway. It might be time for a relocation in order to follow the meat! :D
 
What are the rules for picking blue crabs? we were talking about it the other day. Are there any rules that say u can't on scuba?

Crab-Blue Sept 20 - Oct 4 Gulf state waters beyond 3 miles
closed to traps; federal waters closed to traps
10 gallons whole per harvester per day
5 traps maximum. Trap requirements apply.
Harvest of egg-bearing crabs prohibited.

Closed Season:
Crab-Blue Land
July 1–Oct 31 20 per harvester per day
Trapping prohibited, harvest of egg-bearing females prohibited, harvest prohibited in
state parks and from the right-of-way of federal, state or county maintained roads

Blue Crab's can not be Speared can't find anything saying you can't on scuba
 
Thanks for the info guys. I think we should get a crawfish boiling pot, get some crabs and have a boil afterwards.
