The LA County instructor course is coming up in a couple months (starts January 7, 2006), and here's some info from my ADP instructor for anyone interested:

"UICC 53 is holding a candidate workshop on November 12, 2005 at Victoria Park Poll from 8AM to 12 Noon. Arrive early and be ready to enter the water at 8AM. This is a valuable tool in judging your progress from ADP to UICC and to give you a clear idea of what is going to be expected of you for the Dec. 3 and 4 UICC Program Tryouts. FOG is required for this workshop."

(By the way, FOG is Full Ocean Gear....)

And from the UICC website (http://www.lascuba.com/uicc.html):

"The 53 UICC workshop will be held November 12, 2005 at Victoria Park Pool, from 8am to 12pm. This will be a training workshop to help out candidates with skills and pointers in preparation for the tryouts.

53 UICC tryouts will be held on December 3 and 4, 2005. December 3 will be the pool session, held at Victoria Park Pool. December 4 will be a checkout dive at Redondo Beach, Veteran's Park.

53 UICC will begin on January 7, 2006 at Victoria Park."

Note that it's a 14 week class that's probably the best around.
