Fatal diving accident at Plöner See
A 57-year-old man died in a diving accident in Lake Plön. The Ascheberg volunteer fire brigade announced on its Facebook page that he and a partner started diving on Sunday near the former Ascheberg sports center (Ploen district). According to the information, the two divers lost sight of each other at the edge of the break from shallow water to the deeper regions. The surviving diver initially tried in vain to find his diving buddy with his remaining breath. Rescue workers then discovered the dead man several hours after the start of the dive using sonar on the edge of the break-off at a depth of around nine meters. The police have taken over the investigation. According to a report by "Kieler Nachrichten" (Monday), the casualty was not a vacationer.
