I am a bit of a macro fiend myself and I would defer to you on S. Leyte. I had one trip there that was nice but I had camera issues (forgot my flash diffuser)and tried to dive with the whale sharks but they eluded us. I do recall the visibility wasn't all that great either at the time of my visit. The pier dive should not be missed - my first stargazer!
