Along with the aforementioned flashlight, a white garbage bag is great to be used as a "balloon" over the light. Makes for a great visual location aid, especially if you have a strobe feature on the light. It basically takes up no space at all.
This is brilliant.

But only if one has a connection. Therein lies the issue. It is best of have paper copies as well.

When we travel we have paper copies of passports, dive cards, etc.
If you have to leave a vessel in a hurry there is a good chance that, despite planning and good intentions, the go bag with important documents will get left behind or damaged in some way that renders the docs unusable. As such, the drop box or other cloud storage makes a great deal of sense as Plan B.

A photocopy of your passport will assist if you need to acquire a replacement. You can also take a picture of the main ppt page with photo.
Also, email yourself a copy of your passport. You will usually have access to email somewhere you land.

Dropbox will store documents offline, but no harm in having paper documents as well.

For the after, assuming that you have nothing...
The real point that you and many are missing is that the after might be more than just a live-a-board incident. For instance, a hurricane that knocks the power out, so no cell, no internet, no phones, no lights, no motorcars, not a single luxury.

So actually you want to become a 'prepper'....

Make it small as possible.
Cash, documents, credit card take no space. Small pen lights are way more convenient then a dive light that takes multiple 3a batteries or similar. It's not there to sustain you for multiple days stranded on a life raft, it's there to pay your way home after you survive the incident.

Having a go bag that weighs a lot makes it way more likely that you will not have it at hand when you need it. Mine is literally a waterproof wallet with a strap that you can put around your neck.
