And report back afterwards, because I'm going with Spoilsport LOB in November. Thanks.

Hey! Similar question- Mike ball is booked up the week in going in November and spirit of freedom isn't going to the ribbon reefs that week (they're doing their annul northern trip). Do we completely switch our itinerary to go with mike ball? Or do we do prodive to the outer reefs or something else?

Switching our itinerary would mean going from Brisbane (starting there for a wedding), checking out Sydney, then back toward Brisbane again to go to the reef before heading back to the states via Sydney again... Our hope was to do Great Barrier Reef right after the wedding in Brisbane.

Thats really up to you. If your heart is set on doing the Ribbon Reef area then Mile Ball is your only choice for the dates you want by the sounds of it.

There are Outer Reef trips that run every day like Scubapro, Ocean Quest of Kangaroo Explorer. Still good dive sites but not quite as good or varied as the Ribbon Reef area. At least you get to see the GBR.

Personally I would change. cairns is still a long flight from Brisbane so it's not a huge travel saving compared with flying from Sydney.

Check out Jetstar.com.au as they are doing flight specials and you can go Cairns to Brisbane for AUD$79. Sydney Cairns $115, so if you pick it right it may not count too much to change.
