Since you underlined easy place to dive, as others have recommended would go on the Catalina Express out of either San Pedro or Long Beach and dive at the casino dive park. Easy entry/Exit, lockers, gear transport available, fills as well as tanks close by.

Catalina day trip can be pricey. for the same price you could take a local dive boat. and get free air fills, food and drinks included. fyi
The Magician has open boats to Catalina on Fridays.

No lockers any more when we went on Memorial Day weekend. Totally gone. Maybe they were out being cleaned up?

It seems that they just finished painting them all last year.
There are lockers located at the ferry dock.
On one side of the building they are a bit small, $1.00 for each entry. On the other side of the building by the baggage transport/storage area there are medium and large lockers. these are $4.00/$6.00 per day with unlimited entry. probably not much help for the diver, but worked well for me for a kayaking/freediving day with several entries to the locker.
I will be going out on the Magician this Friday. Great vessel, friendly crew, knowledgeable captain, plenty of food, (breakfast, snacks between dives, lunch), bunks, air fills, and Nitrox for extra charge. They do 3 dives per day.
To the OP, this would be an excellent alternative as the parking is free at the 22nd Street landing in San Pedro. (Catalina landing is $15 per day).
