As I said I earlier, there were no problems with our group. We flew direct from Houston into Rotan on TACA. No one had gear missing nor was there gear that did not make it. we also flew direct from Roatan back to Houston. Again no problems. If TACA id the only avaliable airline into Roatan then I would say you have no choice. Based on my one experiance, there should be no problems
 
I checked my bags in Atlanta and they arrived with me on Roatan, as did the luggage of the others in my group. We also had no problems with getting our luggage back in Miami.

My experience with TACA was pleasurable. I enjoyed the flights, the airplanes, and the service. I'm 6'3" 230lbs and had no problem with the legroom like I usually do with stateside carriers.
