Munin once bubbled...
GI has always said that he uses the knife, AFAIK. That is what I do and I can't say I've ever had any problem with my d-ring, drysuit inflator, or inflator hose, and I can't really imagine how you could have a problem. It seems that using the knife takes even more slack out of the hose and makes it less likely to me. Was AG any more specific about what sort of problem it might cause? Who am I to disagree though...

I heard it second hand, but one of the examples given was that if your removed your drysuit inflator to blow a bag, you might replace it over the hose, thus trapping it, if it were located on the left side.

The confusion lies in the fact that the knife should be approximately dead in the middle, according to GI. Thus, the hose doesn't get wrapped to the left, and no stuffing is necessary.

I haven't gotten a chance to dive since he posted about it, so take it for what you will *shrug*

I took a 4" inch long piece of 1" diameter delrin and (starting 1/2" from one end) made a slot 2" long and 1/4" wide. If I am diving without a canister light, I buckle that in place and it work well enough for me.
