I think what we may want to do next time is fill up that public parking area and anyone who can't park there can drop their gear and then park over at that shopping center a block away and walk back to the parking area to gear up. As long as we make sure we have at least one van or covered truck in that parking area, we can make sure everyone's second tanks and any other gear can get stored there so people aren't dragging gear all over creation.
 
Part of the parking problem was that another group of divers from Florida Underwater Sports in Sarasota was also doing their monthly "donut dive" and had about 12 people attending which greatly added to the parking congestion. It was strictly coincidence that this happend since they usually do this at either Service Club or S. Brohard in Venice, and it's doubtful that kind of coincidence would happen again. Maybe this will convince the Holmes Beach community they need more parking...but they'd probably charge for it. Most weekends the rule for parking is "get there before 0900 if you want a spot" that postage stamp parking lot fills fast.
