I'm looking for some information about Maldives before making up my mind... First of all, my hubby would be accompanying me and he has health problems that he needs injections every week.. I've looked for some hospitals in Maldives but can't find any.. so i decided to look for pharmacies: none.. only a pharmacy directory at http://www.drugdelivery.ca/xx-MV-40-A-xx/Maale-Pharmacy.aspx but there is no pharmacy..

1. can anyone recomment me a hospital, pharmacy or private doctor??
2. what time of year is best to go to maldives?
3. Are the sites beautiful in Maale?

If you gone there, please let me know..

Well, http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_961.html mentions that there are 2 hospitals in Male, and that is the only place I would have expected any hospitals. But Male is not where you would stay on a dive trip or any sort of vacation.

There is only resort per island, and they are not on the same islands as any sort of real towns (such as they are) - where tourists for the most part are not allowed anyway. So even if you could locate local pharmacies or whatever it probably wouldn't do you any good. Also, it's a big area, and mostly water. All transfers are by boat or plane, some of them quite a distance, so you can't expect a casual hop to anyplace. Your best bet would probably be to contact individual resorts and see what your options are. I imagine at least some places have a doctor on call or something. Maybe resorts on islands closer to Male would be better bets, or easier to arrange something.

I loved the Maldives, but I'm not sure it's a place I would go if I knew I had medical needs going in.

I'm with Damselfish. Not really your first pick if you need to rely upon medication or doctors.Male is the capital but not where you would want to stay. Pretty busy and dirty overall.
The rest of the Maldives are stunning. Made up of hundreds of tiny islands (small sandbanks really) usually with one resort, a dive shop (bigger islands may have two) and not much else. We stayed at Lily Beach on the North Ari Atoll which was a 45 minute seaplane ride from the mainland. There are a few islands that are much closer to Male but it may not be easy to get to and fro on a whim.
