Upon purchasing the Mares 28xr-hr regs, they arrived with a flexible braided (like ©Miflex) hoses. One problem - the hoses have some kind of plastic cover which takes away some of their flexibility.. Is there anyone with the same situation who has found a solution?

The coating is supposed to be there and the lack of flexibility is a deliberate feature of the hose. Mares uses Miflex XT-Tech hoses in these setups. It's pretty much intended to act like a rubber hose but be lighter. You can read the full set of marketing guff here:
