After a loooong winter out of the water due to storm after storms after storm, we finally got in for a nice dive today. And the ocean gifted me with a sea turtle and horn sharks galore for my birthday - thanks Ocean!
It's been miserably drizzly, rainy and just plain grey the whole past week, so the surprise nice weather today was definitely sorely needed. Low tide was about 6am today, high at about 11:30, so our usual ~6:30am "check out what the ocean's doing" patrol looked like the going was gonna be good. The sand is still a little bit washed out at the bottom of the stairs down to the beach, but with the tide as low as it was assuming we got back in before about 10:30, it would be ok.
(rich people's house to the right, Marine Room restaurant to the left)
So we suited up and kicked out. Viz was at least 15' which is almost unheard of, temp was 66ºF most of the dive (the computer says 64ºF, but that's a low) practically no surf (some fizzies) and the usual surge considering the usual dive average 8fsw, with a max of 13fsw. We were down for only 1:13 because my 40s weren't completely full
Horn Shark?
..nope, too flat for that. Skate of some kind.
The usual leggy suspects
Some more flat guys
Sheep Crab
There's always that one that wants to stare you down.
Shiny treasure
Shiny treasure still being used (Abalone)
You seriously can't get away from the sea bass at Marine Room
Still lots of legs around
OMG Shark!!
Run for your lives!! (j/k, horn sharks eat things like urchins )
