Marsa Alam or Sharm El Sheikh

From Cairo you can take a flight to Luxor in the Nile Valley and see the sites there for a couple of days, then proceed to the Marsa Alam area by bus for diving. From Marsa Alam airport fly back to Cairo.
I recently stayed in El Quseir, diving with the Pharaoh Divers, all diving was done from shore due to poor weather (red and yellow flags) and it was great.
Also been diving Ras Mohammed and the Tiran sites recently and it was great !

certainly means Hurghada, lots of Russian go there.

while I went diving in Sharm a group of German divers staying at my hotel had booked with Camel Divers and they were quite pleased !

Indeed you are correct. Looking back a t my log we spent a few hours in Marsala alam and the night in Hurgada on the trip I had in mind. Marsala Alam was just a small faceless tourist town. Sorry for the bad info.
