Fun dive at the breakwater today. The water was fairly flat & glassy with minimum surge. Surface temperature 59F, bottom temp 57F. Vis was 15 to 20 feet. We could see the surface from 40 feet...if looking toward the sun...
I found the fluke of the admiralty anchor on the kick out & we spent 2 minutes checking it out. For those of you who, like me, have forgotten where it is...it's just past the 5, about 1/4 the way between the 5 and 6, near the life ring hanging on the harbor fence. I've seen it fully exposed years ago, but haven't noticed it lately. My computer logged this as a separate dive, LOL.
We dropped at the 9, followed the bottom of the wall for 30 minutes, then returned at 25 to 30 feet for 25 minutes surfacing at the 8. There were more fish to see during the return, including a school of Halfmoon that allowed us to approach & get some video. Otherwise, we saw the usual rockfish, surfperch, a few lingcod, and a cabezon.
The wave model looks better tomorrow, last time I checked.
