Hey Josh,

Sorry you won't be able to join us! This'll be my first trip to Anacapa. I'm hoping the sea lions are out! :D

You'll love Anacapa John. I had the joy of swimming with the sea lions last month.

I was out there last Sunday we got one dive it at Santa Cruz then went to Anacapa for our second dive. Before we set anchor a swell warning came in so we had to get back to the harbor. Even the Peace and Specter where heading in early I believe. It was a rough ride to the harbor to say the least. Hopefully this weekend is better.

You could always come up to the PNW...WE have some of the best diving in the world.
Yes, So.Cal is touted as great diving...but in the NW we have some great critters, wall dives and fantastic drift dives...
If you want to come up North, then give a shout. There are always plenty of us who will show you around.

I have dove the PNW. I was up there over x-mas and NWGreatfulDiver (Bob) was kind enough to set up a banditos charter. We dove Sunrise and Delco Wall. The critters where hidding from me though. Nonetheless I still enjoyed the dives. Delco Wall was a great site

Jeez, Wetrat, you're making me blush. I didn't think anyone remembered those videos, but thanks for the good reviews. I'll take good press any way I can get it.

But on to the topic of this thread. There's been some good advice so far. Both of those videos were taken at Anacapa Island, which is dived by boats out of the Ventura/Santa Barbara area - a little north of the prime areas for taking boats to Catalina, but not problematically so if you're staying in L.A. I'd try to hit both if possible. A day or two of diving the north Channel Islands (Anacapa, Santa Cruz, etc.), and a day or two of taking boats out of San Pedro/Long Beach to Catalina Island. Or if you want the whole immersive island experience, there are any number of places to stay on Catalina, and a couple of nice dive shops in Avalon that run their own boats, not to mention some awesome shore diving at Casino Point.

So what kind of diving are you looking for, and how much? Boat, shore, staying in one general area, or a whirlwhind tour of SoCal scuba spots? Post a general idea of what you have in mind, and you'll probably get some much more specific advice.

But no matter what you choose to do, I think you'll end up enjoying it. Nothing beats SoCal diving.

...BTW - Claudette - these Anacapa videos have me COMPLETELY STOKED for the Mo2vation dive this weekend!!! I shall see you there in all your enthusiastic diving splendor!!! Lol, Rick - yes, we are a bit self-absorbed down here. It's a Hollywood thing!! :14:
Dearest 'Rat, you must have me confused with someone else.:429:
As Rick Inman so clearly described, I'm just a shrinking violet of shyness:lookaroun... people hardly know I'm around... I don't talk much about my dives.

Saturday, I'll be sitting in the corner of the Peace Galley, drinking weak tea.

Now... my evil-DIR-twin may be a bit more interactive... :jump3:

Anacapa is going to be a blast!!! See you there :jump013:
