Just like buying a car certain series get recalled because of a production error. Only certain lot numbers were recalled. You can guarantee that they will have a one for one exchange. We always have this going on, because of mass production there is always a glitch.

No such thing as mass production in kevlar. They are all hand made. Assuming the plates are Kevlar.

Personally I think we need to go to full body armor. We have the technology, we just don't like the price since it will make fittings expensive - just like personal armor was in medieval times.

They had the recall for the Marines armor on the news last night. Supposed to stop up to a 9mm but appears to fail that. Ummm wouldn't you want something that stops like a 7.62ish????

Most body armor only stops 9mm throughout the flexible portion of the armor. They usually sew a pocket in the front and back, where a hard plate is slid in to stop rifle rounds. Flexibility, weight and cost have driven the design. A rigid torso could be made to stop rifle rounds everywhere but it need to be fitted to each user. Most police and military units want something that is either one size fits all or only a couple sizes. They also want something that is cheap enough they can afford one for everybody.

The Interceptor Multi-Threat Body Armor, is issued to units like the 101st Airborne, 82nd, and 10th Mountain. The XVIII Airborne Corp units have priority in the Army to receive equipment like that, not leaving enough for everyone else. The Interceptor is some of the best stuff on the market, it can stop everything from a 9mm to 7.62. There is no such thing as a "bullet proof" vest only bullet resistant. Every piece of armor has a weakness, mid-evil to now. Most vests weak spot is its side panels where the sides meet.

The Interceptor body armor works, If people don't think that it does, have them talk to these guys.
