hi,I would go anywhere into the kelp beds,get a 3 band gun with a break away tip and shoot fish.shoot anything just to get pcs of fish in the water.that will draw other fish in .shoot some kelp bass,the ones with the orange dusted chinn.enjoy:

Should I start with those pretty bright orange fish? They should be easy to hit!

Thanks to all of you who replied. Even Smile 47. I learned from all of you and have a bunch of resources that I will begin to use to learn to responsibly take food from the ocean to eat and to feed my family with. Happy diving!
