what which would you guys pick between the two?

Now I been on CameraLABs.com and read the review
but i never held nor own a SLR camera

I would like some feed back

I am a novice when it comes to underwater picture taking.

the only thing that makes me even consider the Cannon is the 1080P feature
but god knows if i will use it less or more underwater if nikon had 1080p hands down i would be a nikon but im kinda stuck between the 2..

both cameras are well within my price range so money is not so much a issue unless i upgrade too a nikon D700 lol.

what do you guys think i should get.. i would mostly be taking as a novice pictures of fish eells and alot of close ups... and a couple of friend shots or group shots .

Honestly I would go with the Canon, and I shoot and will always shoot Nikon. Own too many lenses now. As you advance you will want to branch out to video and the Canon is an excellent option.

If you are starting from scratch no need to wait. Reality is the camera may come out in Sept. but housings will be 3-6mths after that. The only reason to wait would be if Nikon was coming out with some significantly better sensor or higher rez vid, but from what rumors I have seen that is not the case. Again I will buy the D400 but that is because of my suite of lenses, just like I will stay with Aquatica because of all my ports. Plus I do believe both make an excellent product.

errr this sucks NIKON is soo far behind in the DSLR Curve
and I want a Nikon but with 1080P errrrr

cannon has everything i need but i dont like the style menus
or lenses ....errrrrrrrrr

then the D400 comes out all i gotta do is buy the body
but then i would have to dish out another 2G next year for the stupid
underwater body OMG!!!!!!!!!!

Don't figure the camera you're gonna use by it's video capabilities.
Get the best your money can buy TODAY and start shooting.
I would choose D300s over 7D any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
