after diving the park at catalina and back on the mainland.. Santa Monica Promenade? Hollywood Sunset Strip. kind of cool attractions.

There are many museums, such as the art museum on Wilshire, the Automotive Museum, the Natural History Museum, the LA Arboretum, and the live-action "museum of tourist crowds" known as Hollywood Blvd. On your first day you will go to a diner called Fred62 on Vermont Ave and order the "Bang-Bang," which you will eat with chopsticks, with Calamari for the appetizer and a Boddingtons to drink. Do not neglect to sprinkle the lemon juice and cilantro over the Calamari, failure to do so is incorrect. Following this dinner you will proceed south approx 200 yards to the Dresden Room where you will enjoy an alcoholic beverage and live musical entertainment. The following day, hit up Panavision in Hollywood and tell them you're producing a low budget feature and wonder what kind of deals they could give you. Next, see a movie at the Hollywood Arclight Theater, its worth the price and they serve baguettes, should you require one. From there, head up Cahuenga Blvd to Groundworks at Selma Ave for the best coffee in town. Later, in your only foray to Hollywood Blvd, you will visit Musso and Frank's and ask for 'the best damn vodka martini in LA." A suitable alternative to this, should you wish to avoid the Blvd, is The Piano Bar, which is at Selma and Cahuenga. For dinner on your second day, you will proceed to Casa Bianca Pizza on Colorado Blvd in Eagle Rock which is 6 minutes away from you in Pasadena. Here you must order a thin crust New York Style pizza. Upon completion of this task you will head to the corner of Colorado and Townsend and seek a frozen Accai from Blue Dot. For your final night in Pasadena, you must stay in Old Town and eat at A-Float Sushi where you must insist on sitting at the bar, the reasons for which will become obvious once you are there. Do not fail to order hot sake.

The Getty and Norton museums were mentioned, and the tar pits. We are most fond of LACMA, right next to the tar pits, enough so to be members even though we live in San Diego. We'll drive up and spend a day in LA every few months.

This is brilliant !!!!

Thank you so much everyone
Now i need to change my flights and stay in LA for two weeks to fit it all in

My friend who I'm staying with in Pasadena wants to drive down to San Diego for Sea World and stop the night in La Jolla?
but that will eat into two days and I only have three days

If I had more time I'd to go to Sea World, but considering we are then going on to Socorro .... I don't mind giving that a miss

I'd better get writing my itinerary :D

Have a lovely day

A wonderful "once in a lifetime ' experience would be The Immersion Experience at The long Beach Aquarium, for a 2 and a half hour experience for only $299 i think, you can actually dive inside the tropical tank !!!! you get free towel tshirt a camera to use and they also give you the memory card after too, Also for an extra small free they throw in a trip on one of our boats too Sundiver International Inc to Catalina for the day :) Cant beat that call us at 1 800 555 9446 for more details :)
Look forward to helping you plan your vacation

I'd consider doing Catalina Island for a day. Dive the Underwater Park at Casino Point.

A day in Santa Monica or on Venice Beach would also be fun.

I second the recommendation to check out the Getty Museum. Fantastic place.

Agreed!

drive the PCH - stop at whatever interests you along the way. Go south towards Newport Beach and Huntington Beach. South of there is Laguna Beach. A rented convertable would be a nice way to roll.........

Following this dinner you will proceed south approx 200 yards to the Dresden Room where you will enjoy an alcoholic beverage and live musical entertainment.

There's also a very good Italian restaurant on Vermont Ave a couple of blocks north of the Dresden called Palermo. You can spend an entire afternoon and evening going to the Griffith Observatory and then to the restaurants and bars around Vermont Ave afterwards. They're all fairly close to each other. We usually park off of Vermont Ave and take the shuttle bus to the observatory. The view from the observatory on a clear day is spectacular; especially at night.

If you want a great burger, eat at In-N-Out: IN-N-OUT Burger
Or, if your stomach can handle it, try this: Original Tommy's Hamburgers

If you like wine and don't want to drive as far as Santa Barbara, there are now several very scenic wine tasting spots in the Santa Monica mountains above Malibu, within easy driving distance from Pasadena. Malibu Wines and Sip Cielo are both pretty nice, and the wine is quite drinkable.

Besides all the art and history museums, LA has a number of world class speciality museums. If you are in to cars, the Nethercutt and Mullin are both unique experiences. Plus LA has some of the best and most famous driving and cruising roads in the US

Or you could just go diving the whole in the kelp forests here in So Cal
