I run fun dives for $35/dive in Oakville aboard my Dive salvage tug Orkney Isle for certified divers with log book and diver certification card.
I have some other dive shops ,private instructors and dive clubs doing advanced, rescue , fun and specialty dives. Dives on Tuesday at 7pm sign up in the shop at 6:30pm. then set up on the boat. Two tank dive Thursday at &:00pm.with the second dive as a night dive.
Saturday dives start at 0800am. for two tank dives, next dive at 2:00pm. and then 5:30pm. We also run group dives at any time. Some days we anchor the Orkney Isle on the site for the day .
Any rentals pre-booking is a must. New divers come in for sizing before dive day on wetsuits etcetera . Boat rental price for full rental with one tank $55.00 plus the cost of the dive. All rentals must be returned after dive within 40 minutes.
The Orkney Isle is a large dive platform 45’ by 14” with lots of room for divers gear coolers whatever, with a 17 minute ride from slip to the dive site. I Also cut off the back end off the Orkney Isle and it has steps down to the water for easy entry nice and safe. In nice weather I back the Orkney Isle onto my marked mooring so it is easy to descend and when you ascend the dive platform is right there. This a lot easier than trying to get in and out of a small boat or an inflatable.
The Orkney Isle has a head , GPS, RADAR ,first aid kit and O2, comfortable ride and me R Shannon a experienced Dive boat operator , commercial diving instructor, second generation Canadian dive shop operator and specialty instructor. I like divers of all certifications and levels, I help ,I care about them being safe, give good tips on dive skills, and having a good time. My Rule is no ego’s lets dive and if you don’t feel good don’t do the dive.
We dive on a tugboat converted to a barge called the Jesse Anne [it has been miss named the saqueen on the OUC site].
Depth at bottom is 70ffw and on deck its 60ffw 100ft long and 30ft wide. A great platform for any training dives.
I have a large mooring line so it’s an easy ascent /descent and safety stop. I attached a large float so there usually is no line shake or bob.
There is a Cessna and a three big cruisers [ The Jeannette M, The Crash and Salvage commercial trainer and the Dawn} and another wreck sunk offshore called the TYGER 3 and I will be lifting it and moving it closer to the Jesse Anne. I use lines to run out to the different sites so there is a lot to see and do on a dive. We also have located another jet air plane which we will move over to the Jesse Anne.
If you have your own boat and wish to use Oakville Divers mooring and visit the site just call the shop for permission [905-842-8881]there is no charge for using it. If not just anchor far enough away from the site so we may moor easily and safely.
I also have a very large 26 man inflatable dive boat I ”may” use this summer to dive Toronto Harbour Dives Sligo , Lyman Davis etcetera.
Cheers
Rob
