the Sherwood Avid is a great BC. It has two ok pockets and even though its a jacket style BC, you feel no squeeze.
 
Diving with a BP & wing is actually very comfortable when you have adjusted it correctly. That is what I dive with today, wether it is single or double tank configuration.
If you want a softer BCD, I would recommend a DiveRite Transpac II, possibly with a Rec Wing.

I have had a Zeagle Ranger, DUI BCS and a DiveRite Transpac II (with rec wing). Of the three, the Transpac was by far the easiest and most comfortable BCD to dive with. This is of course my own personal opinion.
