FWIW, a friend of mine ordered a pair of high end racing wheels for his bicycle from the US, and he waited 2 full months for them AFTER the tracking number had shown the item in Canada. Now that's the only case I have ever heard of that happening personally, but obviously it can happen.

That's exactly what happened to me a few times. Even if you go with USPS express post, the tracking# stops at the border.

I do not know if International Priority is different from Express but the item I had shipped last week was tracked to my door.
