I'm sorry, guys, my bad. It's not an Mk5, it's an Mk2. Brandnew.

The MK2 is considered an excellent reg for O2 use, so I imagine there's a good seat for O2 available. The seat is much smaller than the MK5 seat, and theoretically would provide less fuel in the event of a fire, but honestly I have no idea if that's even a consideration. It's just a simple plastic plug that fits in the end of the piston. One could easily be made.

There are only a couple of o-rings, no dynamic o-rings that are subjected to HP air, very simple air path, probably a very good choice for 50% O2.

Thank you for your feedback! The simplicity of this reg is why I thought it might be a good choice for an EAN deco reg. But this still doesn't answer my question of whether I should have it O2-cleaned before using it on 50% or whether it's safe to use it out of the box for that?
 
The safe thing is to clean it. Then you can make sure that the o-rings are viton and that there's no trace of silicone lubricant. The remaining issue would be the seat, and as Couv pointed out, teflon looks like it's fine with O2. For 50% I personally would not worry about it, for 100% I'd learn more about the specific properties of the various seat materials and go from there.

These 1st stages are very very simple, it's really easy to rebuild them.
 
I spoke to a reg tech few months ago and he mentioned that newer regs including mk2 plus come o2 clean out of the box with EPDM o-rings so I assume if its a recent NIB MK2 plus its sure 50% compatible.
If I remember correctly I was reading the description of MK2 Plus on SP website 2 years ago and they were stating that MK2 Plus was 100% O2 compatible from the factory.
