PADI and NAUI are about sixes, really. Probably BSAC as well. CMAS is more serious. When I had to decide which way to go for DM and Instructor, I was choosing from many agencies from around the world. I ended up with PADI because--hands down--in most areas of the world you have FAR more dive bum employment opportunities with PADI certs. Not even a close call. Throughout my working diver days, I met numerous pros who originally went with NAUI, SSI and BSAC, and a great number of them ended up crossing over to PADI, not because of the relative merits of the programs, but because of employment opportunities.
