Definitely Maui - Hike Haleakala crater (either a 1 day or 2-3 day backpacking trip) 11-20 miles. PoliPoli park is another great area for hiking on the island. Pick up the book "Hiking Maui" lots of good trails here - Waihee valley also has a nice "day hike" of about 4 miles across 2 small suspension bridges with a swimming hole at the end. And we have great shore diving to boot. If you want a really incredible hike you can set out for the crater on the west Maui mountains - though often you'll be hiking in mud up to your thighs (a bit dangerous too) ... but what an incredible hike...
