Hey Folks
Just wondering if someone could explain the correct way to attach the line on a new riffe reel to existing blk mono on the speargun. Would appreciate the help.
Thanks
This pic shows it pretty well. The one on the left is a Riffe C3X. The right one is a Wong 55. Both are done the same way.
Thread the reel line through the line guide on the bottom at the end of the gun,
Tie it to a pigtail swivel using a bow line knot.
Make the normal loop with the shooting line and crimp. This will easily slip onto the pigtail of the swivel.
I start by putting a shaft in the gun and connecting the line to the shark fin tab. I do a double wrap and then attach it to the pigtail. You have some leeway and the pigtail can be 2-10 inches or so from the line guide.
If the pigtail is really tight, sqeeze it a bit with a pliers to push the center rod away from the coil, allowing the loop to slide on and off easily.
The nice thing about the swivel is you can detach the line easily and pull the line through a fish rather than trying to get the shaft back out, especially if you're using a slip tip.
