My condolences to you as well as Masaya's family and friends. Friendships are sometimes painful to experience. Your concern, while resulting in sorrow and pain, ultimately lead to his discovery and the closure that follows a death. I am sure that he would have been thankful for your actions.
 
How is your Japanese friend doing? Has he been cleared by the authorities?
