Sleach

In 1969 there were very few dive operations in California and even fewer in the rest of the US .
I suspect your training came through "Aloha Underwater sports shop" owned and operated by Masa Watanabe

If you were issued an LA county certification and need a replacement contact the Underwater Unit at LA Co for a replacement- as I recall very minimum charge for replacement.

OMG! I attended the NASDS Instructors college in the spring of 1978. I also had Tony Zimos, Dick Hammes and Tomm Wilson as instructors. I am OWIC 397. Does anyone know how I can get an instructor card through a current organization?
I attended Instructors College August 1978. Same great instructors. I'm OWIC 412.

Thanks!

Mike Burke NASDS OWI # 1

Mike Burke was a fellow LA Co UW Instructor as well as a very early cross over to NASDS Mike was the very first OWI of NASDS

His last known address was in pacific north west either in US or Canada

Any one know Mike or his status ?

I got my Dive Control Specialist Instructor Certification #2532 from John Gaffney himself in May 1988. We were the first batch in the Philippines. The other Instructors were Andy Vogt from Japan, Gary Shows and the new guy, Doug Mc Neese. Doug eventually bought NASDS and merged it with SSI. I visited John at his Long Beach office after which he invited me for a week’s diving at their resort in La Paz, Baja California Sur.

got it in 1976 NASDS it was a little white paper card with a metal clip with my # Robertson dive shop ,alabama

Was Originally NASDS Certified in 1977 by Paul Snook of Liverpool Dive Center in Syracuse, NY. In 1986 was working at National Aquatic Service as an Instructor NASDS OWI 2346. I remember all those NASDS old timers. The owner of NAS was Jere Hallenbeck OWI 3. eventually certified as Instructor trainer IT176 with SSI. Great programs for training. Now I just dive for fun. 41 years later it's still fun.
