Thanks Dennis! I looked at flights.
Wondering if any one is planning on flying in early and wants to catch an extra day of diving.

Does anyone have any updated information on the spill? Anything from the locals or resorts?
Update @ an hour ago.

So far this seems to be limited to the east ( or Wild) side, while nearly all the diving sites are to the west.
That might impact us less as we are diving, but it can be very bad for Bonaire, as the eastern coast is where the mangrove are, and this is where breeding and incubating of small fish and sharks occurs.

Received this from East Coast Diving (trip booked this weekend):

Divers,

You may have heard by now that an oil spill has reached the east coastline of Bonaire, likely originating from the vessel recently stranded near Tobago. This incident poses a significant threat to the natural ecosystem particularly impacting our mangroves, marine life, and coral reefs.

Cleanup efforts are underway but due to the severity of the situation, the government has made the decision to enforce closure of Sorobon until further notice.

East Coast Diving fully cooperates with the designated authorities and support efforts to mitigate the impact of this environmental crisis. Therefore, we have changed our dive plan for upcoming reservations effective Feb 28.

I wonder, if there is still a situation in June when we are there, if there will be an opportunity to help out with some clean-up efforts. I'd gladly spend a day or two with the fam helping to clean the oil off of anything and everything.

Any way you mods can look into this for us? @ROXANNE ?

Yes, so far everything is just effecting the Eastern coast.
