I dive in New Brunswick in the Bay of Funday for sea urchins. The best price this winter was in Decmber. We got $2.60 a pound, based on 10% roe, in part because there was another urchin buyer which created competition for the roe and drove the price up. It is was up ten down ten. ie. 9% roe $2.50 a pound 11% roe $2.70 a pound. It's real work but there is money to made. We had a diver get caught this year and drown, so wherever you end up urchining be safe. If you have any questions or need a ride on a boat this winter send me a message and I will send you some contact names and numbers.

we were diving the northumberland strait here a few days ago and there was a crap load of sea urchins...i was thinking of getting a licence if its the right time of the year to harvest them...not sure if ya need a licence or not to harvest them commercially..heading in to talk to the dfo on Monday..Maybe my Dive charters can become profitable...haha
