My wife and I will be in Cabo Pulmo for a few days in early December. She's hoping to do some snorkeling on the 3 mornings that I'll be out diving.

Are there places around Cabo Pulmo where there's good snorkeling off the beach that is reasonably safe for solo snorkeling (no strong currents, likelihood of other people nearby)?

And are there snorkeling boat tours that are worthwhile? She emailed a few companies she found on Tripadvisor (Cabo Pulmo Ecoadventures, El Cardumen, a few others) but hasn't heard back from most.

Thanks!

I was diving in Cabo Pulmo a few Novembers ago with Cabo Pulmo Dive Center. Unfortunately, I don't recall noticing any good snorkeling locations adjacent to their boat launch. It was all sand bottom without reef structure. Maybe there are some other better areas along the coast though, I'm just not aware of them. However, I do know Cabo Pulmo Dive Center does offer a boat snorkeling tour. Best!

Yes there are good snorkeling tours in Cabo Pulmo. Just go down to the dive boat/shop area and pick from one of several of the operations. The Jack's are schooling right now and are often near the surface so a snorkel tour (from a boat) is the way to go.

If she wants a quiet area to snorkel she should go to Los Frailes. It's a sheltered bay just south of Cabo Pulmo. The northern end is a rocky point with decent sea life. You'll need a vehicle to get there.

Playa el arbolito has nice snorkeling from shore with a palapa snack bar. It is an hour walk south along the beach or a 5 minute drive. Otherwise many snorkel tours from the operators at cabo pulmo. I didn't try going in to the north.
