There is a really active program to get a "sink fleet", i.e. a whole system of sunken ships throughout California similar to the Yukon in San Diego. I am working with Dick Long who sank the Yukon and a very dedicated coalition of people in this state to do just that. We just received an offer of the largest conventionally powered submarine in the US Navy and are investigating that...

Harvey, which sub is this?? Sailfish? This and her sister-ship Salmon were the biggest diesel-electrics the Navy used....designed as radar picket ships in the 50s. Salmon was used as a target and sunk in the 90s.

This would be an awsome wreck!
 
Found a photo of the Sailfish, SS-572. This sucker is 350 ft long, only a few feet longer than its contemporary, the USS Nautilus SSN-571! About the same size as Yukon. Yeah, I like subs...
