I think I wore mine twice after I got certified. However, I recently started spearfishing and decided to start carrying it my bag in case something starts following my on my way while I've got some bloody fish (since I do a lot beach diving and have long surface swims). I only carry it in my catch bag though when I'm spearing during the day - if i remember to pack it. I need to get a folding one, but refuse to spend $40 on a snorkel.

I guess wearing a snorkel marks me as a rookie, but I've been diving in some fairly steep seas, and if -- IF -- I somehow get away from the boat, I think it would be comforting to have it. I've never had to use it yet, but the same goes for my Air2 and pony bottle. I dunno. It's not really in the way. If the only reason to leave it behind is to seem like a cool, veteran diver, I think I will hang onto it for a while.

Keep the snorkel, lose the Air2 :D
