The yellowing is not dirt nor is it a reason to toss a perfectly good mask. Because of the chemical similarities between silicon and carbon, the carbon that is used to give rubber its black color can migrate into silicone and turn it yellow and eventually brown or even black. This is purely cosmetic. I frequently use the foot pocket of my fin as a protective mask case and one old mask I had turned almost completely brown. Still worked just fine. like the Sopranos say fuggetaboutit.
