I am buying an LP 108. I noticed the XS tank is 5 lbs heavier than the same size Faber tank. It's not a problem for me, I'll just lose 5# from my BC. But why is that?

Hello Merxlin:
The LP108 cylinder we sell manufactured by Worthington Cylinder have a weight (cylinder only, no valve, gas or boot) of 42 pounds. Specs here: http://xsscuba.com/tank_steel_specs.html

The LP108 cylinder manufactured by Faber has a weight of 41 pounds. Specs here: http://www.bluesteelllc.com/products.htm

Just approximately a pound difference. Both are manufactured from plate using the "Deep Draw and Ironing" process. The DDI process produces cylinders with the most consistent wall thickness resulting in the lightest weight, most efficient cylinders.

The Worthington cylinders have the advantage of a Hot Dip Galvanized exterior with a lifetime guarantee against exterior rusting. These are the only scuba cylinders manufactured today with a Hot Dip Galvanized finished.

If you have additional questions you can reach me at at 866 977-2822.

Thanks Mike. I was using a spec from Scuba.Com's website in the product description. Your tank is ordered thru my local dive shop.
