Here in Northern Californial E7 100s are the overwhelming favorite. They are light(33lbs) and are negatively buoyant at the end of the dive. If you can get high pressure fills they carry a lot of air. They double up very nicely as well with a manageable weight load. If you only boat dive I guess weight is not a big issue. If you are going thru the surf it matters.

Personally I never saw the point of carrying a whole lot more air than time constraints will allow.
