The octo run under the arm doesn't present a problem, save the failure point at the swivel.
The primary run under the arm does though, as I see it if someone grabs it and pulls the hose won't unwrap, whereas if you don't route it under your arm all you have to do lean your head forward and you get the extra length.
I've never seen your setup in person (obviously) but this is what I get applying your idea to my hose routing, I may be totally off base though, the main goal is to be able to release the majority of your hose literally without thinking about it.
