Hi.

Does anyone know if the old-style Poseidon Jetsuits--the ones with both valves on the chest, like the old-style Unisuits--are crushed neoprene (like the new ones) or closed-cell neoprene?

Many thanks.

Don't know about the old ones but the new ones aren't "crushed", which is actually a DUI proprietary term but rather compressed. The diff. is that crushed is about 2mm thick and functions alot like shell suit material in that there is said to be no bouyancy change and there isn't much thermal value as all of the neoprene air cells are gone. Compressed Poseidon suits are about 5mm thick as compared to the Unisuit's regular 6.5-7mm material.

I've been told that my Brooks drysuit is exactly the same as an "old Poseidon".

If that's the case, it's 7mm (1/4") full, uncrushed neoprene.

No I don't "notice" the buoyancy change at depth (max on this suit 105') but then I've never dived a shell suit to compare.
