I'm a Fish!
Can someone tell me how to remove the pin from a pair of Twin Jets? I'm going to put a pair of Apollo C-Straps on them and I think I can pull it off without chopping them up. I just need to disassemble the buckle system first.

Thanks!

Usually, inasmuch as the pin is designed to keep the buckle from coming loose, removing it will require its destruction. A dremel works well but I've heard of people using hacksaws or even bolt cutters.

Thanks for the reply! Where on the pin do you make the cut?

If ya pry it with a screwdriver it will pop. I like to hold it with pliers at the same time. If you have a dremel that's a cleaner way, but it's not a big deal to break them loose with ordinary tools.

I took off the straps of my ScubaPro Twin Jets yesterday and installed my new Manta Spring Straps. I simply took a small phillips head screwdriver and pushed one end of the pin so it protruded enough to grab on the other end with a pair of pliers. A bit of wiggling/pulling and it came right out. All 4 pins took less than 5 minutes to take out. I now have an almost unused set of scubapro fin straps if I ever want to go back to using them (perish the thought, spring straps kick a$$).

Could those pins be re-installed if necessary...or if you remove the pin, will it damage them making them unusable?

Piece of cake (if you have the right tools)! Take a large pair of tin snips and pop them off as I did in the photos below. The process shouldn’t take you more then 5 seconds a buckle. You may reuse the buckle by placing it back on the fin and snapping them shut with a large pair of channel lock pliers. You will only be able to reuse the buckles once. Hope this helps…please PM me if you need anymore help and I’ll try to advise.

Think you misunderstood...I'm looking to remove the original pin from the Twin Jets.

My bad...I thought they were original Jets...I did a set of twins for a friend of mine, but I had to ruin the buckle to get them off. I'll have to find a post that asks the same question about Jet Fins now...LOL
