Wow. It's in two Volvo P1800s made into one. I can't elaborate now, but it involves a tiny ball bearing check-valve or reverse check-valve under a press fitted brass plug in a cast chamber.
I can't think of the name for the small diaphram pump involved, but with sonic technology and a piece of wire, we were able to persevere. I'm too drunk to go on, but my Dad keeps threatening to go back to the SUs which are prone to burning up cars when the float sticks and shoots gas directly onto the manifold through the overflow vent (go figure). Even though we realized we had to put press-fittings into the vents with a hose running down to anywhere etc...etc
