Underwater strobe, use on land?

I've used my YS-25 strobe and wide angle lens both on land, trying to practice strobe angle techniques.

I don't think has caused any harm, I don't know why the manufacturer of yours would say not to use it on land. Isn't a strobe a strobe? ours just have underwater housings on them. could be wrong, but if you can't get in the water, how else are you supposed to practice?
