I was of the same school of thinking.... cheap is best..... I actually got 2 rolling duffel bags from the Real Canadian Superstore for $2.88 each on clearance.... they were a hideous pukie colour which was great.... easy to spot at the airport! Unfortunately the baggage handlers on my last trip to Mexico took LSD and tied to rape my luggage (OK... not strictly true....but you never know:eyebrow:....).... so it was almost totally unusable.

I got one of those Akona >10lb bags for Xmas...

and it has performed really well.... nice and light and pretty hard wearing.....fairly cavernous - got 2 sets of dive gear in there when we went to Egypt and it came through unscathed....and another 4 major rips since....certainly not looking like it was molested by a troop of baboons anyway..... just my 2 cents....I would buy another....

At the end of the day, it is whatever works for you..... if anyone actually looks down on you because you don't have the official dive version then it is certainly their loss not yours!.... If I could trust baggage handlers I would probably transport everything in a dunk bag!
