Went down Sunday off Alhambra. Viz was really good close to shore but probably only 2' at best out in the 18-20' depths. We didn't really have any luck, some nice small ones and part of an old meg that was worn so smooth it looked like a river stone. I think I'll try the pier again next time, I've always had better luck down there. I may even bring the boat down if its calm enough, anybody know what the closest ramp is to put in down there?

The closest ramp right now is the 1 off Venice Ave at the old train depot, the 1 in Nokomis is closed right now.

Here are my finds from Sat. with Florida West

Really nice!! What is the "bone" like thing on the right of the pic?

That's a horse tooth above the 50 caliber shell

Nice finds! I'm gonna have to bring the boat down there if thats the kind of stuff you can find in the Boneyard! I'm still dying to find one of those .50 Cal shells.

Sometimes the mantees get rather agressive out there.

UB:
Why are there .50 cal shells in the ocean off Venice?

.50's are found off of Venice because the US Navy and then Army Air Corps used to have gunnery practice off the beach.

And that, my friend, is really why the manatee is an endangered species.
