If I’ll be unable to rent AL tanks – I’ll dive steel one but if I’ll have a choice – I’ll chose AL tanks.

I am going to have to agree with your posts. Many others and myself prefer Al80's (doubles) in the ocean over heavy steel 104's.

On a separate note, where in Russia do you dive? I know JJ did some training for Russians in Egypt? Is there any interest in DIR system in that part of the world? (I am originally from Russia too)

Hi Vadim,

I thought I know all GUE russian-speaking divers :) I’m glad to meet you here.

I mostly dive in Red Sea, Egypt. (Yes, that’s the place where Jarrod did Tech 1 training in November :)) It’s nearest warm dive area with infrastructure we need in (AL twin tanks, boats, oxygen, helium e.t.c.).

I’m thinking about starting to dive in such dive areas as Black Sea and Baltic Sea but for current moment that’s just an idea with no concrete plans.

In Russia DIR system is well known and popular. We have here in Russia only 5 GUE certified divers but a lot of people here are very interested in DIR and thinking to take GUE classes.

Regards,
Seva
