I like to swim fast and cover a lot of territory, so I travel as light as I can. I also believe that each piece of gear you carry slows you down and increases the probability of equipment failure.
I have two Oxycheq fold-up pockets on my waist belt, one on either side. I don't keep anything in them, I use them for treasures I find (shells, lead weights, gold doubloons). I carry shears on my belt but have never used them. On my D-rings I carry a whistle (never used) and a flashlight if I think I'll need it.
