Thanks for backing me up. I think the key is to muddle the mint with sugar by hand versus using some sugary, pre-mixed syrup. YMMV

Yea, that is the key. The mixes don't even come close to tasting right...

i was going to try a mojito at the little bar above the little store next to casa del mar back in feb and i found the place closed while we were there. i had been told they were good there, but not open.... now its a quest, keep the suggestions coming

Guantanamera. Yes, I was told that too. We walked down from Villablanca one evening. Don't bother. I've had a better mojito pretty much anywhere I've had a mojito. It was a Friday night around 9pm and we were the only tourists, which would be fine except that pretty much all the patrons were 4 sheets to the wind. It seemed like a seedy local dive, which is not at all what had been discribed to me.

We drank rather quickly then walked up the street to Aqua and had something else. Aqua was actually a nice place for a drink at the end of an evening. They're open late on Fri and Sat (2am I think). We went there a couple times. The last night we were there the owner came by to cash out the receipts. Four people in the bar and as we were leaving he asked if we wanted a ride. We didn't, but I thought it was nice of him to ask.

Its already been said a couple times in this thread, and here goes again...Alex at El Casino makes a great Mojito...and is very very proud of them. Ask him about them and he will gladly elaborate on "the drink of my country". And buy one of the hand painted mojito glasses his wife paints...very cool.

Skip the mojito and go the Guidos for the Sangeria Best thing to drink on the island. We will be ther in June also. 21-25 at the Hotel Cozumel and taking my AOW at Blue XTSEA.

We sampled the Sangria at Guidos. Not bad at all. Being from NJ, we didnt totally dig the pizza, but for Mexico it isnt bad.

BTW we did are AOW with Blue XTSea 2 years ago. Concentrate on your Bouyancy, mimic the DM and you will learn a lot. :)
