So what's the diving like in May? I heard from someone in Juneau that May is a terrible month to dive there--plankton bloom and all.

So what if viz is only 20-30 feet? Most of us have to get a lot closer than that to see stuff anyhow
20-30 feet? That's a great day for most of the diving I get to do. I could definitely deal with that. Someone said the viz would be "a few feet (if that)." So, I gotta ask, how cold is it now?

In summer, there ARE sights that will have only a few feet of viz at times, but I actually have never seen it that bad at any of the sites I frequent in Resurrection Bay.... But I've also seen 100'+ viz at some of those same sites in the SUMMER!!!

Brrr! So I'm glad I'm not in Alaska now, but Snowbear, you are really making me think diving in Alaska is something I outta do.
One of these days I GOTTA dive up there... but my trips will probably take me to the Fairbanks area ... any decent diving up there?
Some... in the summer.
During the winter, everything is frozen solid. Even in March, there isn't much thawed water to speak of for at least a few hundred miles.
I'll be gone by time you come up here (leaving in May), but drop me a PM before you head to Alaska and I'll give you all the info I can think of.
