So what's the diving like in May? I heard from someone in Juneau that May is a terrible month to dive there--plankton bloom and all.

Snowbear:
Sure there's plankton, but the water's a LOT warmer than it is now :11:

So what if viz is only 20-30 feet? Most of us have to get a lot closer than that to see stuff anyhow :D

20-30 feet? That's a great day for most of the diving I get to do. I could definitely deal with that. Someone said the viz would be "a few feet (if that)." So, I gotta ask, how cold is it now?

Brrr! So I'm glad I'm not in Alaska now, but Snowbear, you are really making me think diving in Alaska is something I outta do.

Some... in the summer.

During the winter, everything is frozen solid. Even in March, there isn't much thawed water to speak of for at least a few hundred miles.

I'll be gone by time you come up here (leaving in May), but drop me a PM before you head to Alaska and I'll give you all the info I can think of.

Why do you want to come to Fairbanks Tim?

-Brandon.
