As November 10th is my 40th birthday, it is with a heavy heart that I must say I will not be in Catalina to celebrate with you all.

Instead I will be 8 days in on my 16 day trip to Fiji.

Hope you all have a fantastic time.

Terry

I'm sure we'll have a great time....but it is you that will have FANTASTIC time in Fiji no doubt!

I'm jealous!

Ber Rabbit:
Thanks D_B, I thought he meant the dive boat. I'd rather rent tanks/weights on the island but I wasn't sure if that was an option. I have lots of research to do before making a trip like this, it's way out of my comfort zone for trip planning. It's hard to do the research here at work and I haven't even had time to get on the computer at home yet.

For some reason I still can't get the sticky thread to open.
Ber :lilbunny:
Sorry about that! I meant the Catalina Express. You can make as many trips as you want to get your gear on the dive boat.

Tanks and soft weights are actually provided on the boat for Sunday morning. You can rent tanks and weights from the fill station at the dive park or from Scuba Luv in town.

We'll get you set up so that this is a painless process.

Not a lot of ferries around these parts (we do have a couple in other parts of the state) so when you say boat I think dive boat :D

When will the dive boat return on Sunday? I see the Cataline Express schedule only goes through Sept right now. I'm trying to figure out what time to book a return flight on Monday and where to stay Sunday night. I really hope my husband doesn't have anything going on that weekend that I have to attend. I'll skip town without him if I have to :D

I'm not sure how I'm going to get my drysuit and my gear on the ferry AND stay within the airline weight restrictions. I may end up diving wet. What are the air temps that time of year?

Ber :lilbunny:
That's a tough time of the year to predict air temps for because it's right around the time that it might get colder. Of course, compared to Ohio it will probably be pretty toasty. :eyebrow:

The last couple of years we've been there in November, we've had phenominal weather with air temps in the mid 70s if I remember correctly. I plan to bring a wind breaker and long pants, but that's mostly for getting to the Dive Park at Casino early in the morning.

I hope you'll be able to make it.

Feel free to call me if you want to ask some questions "live" on the phone. :crafty:

Ber,

I live in Mission Viejo and have made reservations already for Catalina. I am taking the Catalina Express back to Dana Point. You are welcome to stay with me. When are you flying in? I am taking the Express over in the afternoon (2:30pm) on Friday. If you fly into John Wayne airport on either Thursday or Friday morning, I can pick you up and you can take the ferry over out of Dana Point. The ferry departs Catalina on Sunday at 4:30pm. I have a guest room so you can just come home with me on Sunday then I can take you to the airport on Monday.
